Interview Live Blog Notes

Live Blog Notes

Rule of Thirds

180 Degree Rule- Always remember to keep a visual line in your mind while shooting, either 180 degrees above or below the focus.

Staging an Interview- Lighting, Composition, Framing. Most interviews are composed of two people, the host and the subject.
Nose Room- leave space in front of nose
Head Room- no space needed above head, compose shot so eyes are 2/3 from top of frame. (rule of thirds)
Compose so that subject isn't breaking frame while talking. Try not to shoot subjects hands
Think about background and environment behind subject.

Interview Tips- Do your homework on subject and possibly do a pre interview. Have questions written on paper before hand to keep from embarrassing your subject. Think like a journalist- Don't ask yes or no questions. Be sure you have good transitions. Subject needs to focus on you, not the camera lens.

Take several take away shots and B-Roll shots to add or edit later after the interview.

Premier Pro Baseball Project

This project was slightly difficult but very enjoyable. I never used the software before and had no experience with video editing. I look forward to learning more about the program and how I can progress in this field.

Michael Welch Interview

I learned a lot from watching the Michael Welch video in class. I was never aware of the background of YouTube or how much it has grown. I remember the early days of the site and how cool I thought it was to be able to search practically any music video or any professional athlete's highlight reel. One point that I found interesting was the statement, "YouTube has grown to be more of a mass media than a social media". I completely agree with that quote because it really evolved to the level of Facebook and twitter.

Movie Posters

Above is my first movie Poster. The picture came from mourge file . The bottom border came from google images and I played with different fonts, sizes, and shapes for the text.
My Second poster's picture of lady justice also came frommorgue file. I added the IMAX and Dolby logos separately from Google. The Fonts were chosen somewhat to look like the text on money.

You guessed it, my third picture came from morge file. The text from the top is a basic serif in white color just to pop againt the black. The FOX logo and Dolby logo came from google.

Our own movie posters

Above is the cover of my chosen book to make a movie poster. It tells of the dangers of online predators and their danger in the real world.

Above is my rough draft picture of the movie poster I made about online predators

Movie Poster Analysis

Contrast- Picture is in Black and White
Repetition- The picture uses only black white and a touch of grey color schemes
Alignment- Strong center Alignment
Proximity- The picture uses a white/grey background to make the black font and picture of Rocky better

Contrast- The picture uses different shades of blue to symbolize the shadow of night and uses large red letters on the left to pop against the black.
Repetition- Not much, only font choices
Alignment- Stong left alignment
Proximity- The Black on blue and red on black shows the font/picture colors better

Compare, Contrast, and Create!

The two pictures above are both flyers, advertisements, or informative images of sometime. To analyze the top picture We need to observe the Contrast, Repetitiveness, Alignment, and Proximity.
The photo shows the five workers standing in front of the junk yard wearing their work attire as trash men, with the contrast of the dark trash being different from the bright colors of the mens' uniforms. The color, design, and overall appearance of the men and their uniforms are the same, which shows repetitiveness along with the font being the same. The allignment of the photo is to the left every time. The proximity of the picture shows the men standing between you and the trash which means they are here to help fight against littering in the community.

The bottom photo of the sunset shows a man in a small boat rowing around a body of water for fishing or another form of recreation. The Contrast of the colors pop as the sunset hits the water and mountains to show a beautiful ray of light. The only repeated items in the picture are that the same font was used and the alignment was to the left every time, which means the Allignment of the photo is to the left! The proximity in this photo shows the sun with some clouds close by, the mountains along side one another, and the man alone in the boat on the water.

POSTER TIME

Above are a couple of posters that we were assigned to replicate using Microsoft Publisher. It was pretty easy to create, basically all I had to do was save the photos that were separated from each other, drag them to the right position, and make sure my fonts, alignment, and detail were correct. And always remember when you're making the project, to save, save, save!!

When writing a paper, article, summary, or anything that needs to be well understood, choosing the correct font is imperative. Above is a picture/example of fonts that we looked over on class Monday. Before actually writing the paper you should think about your topic and what font best suites the criteria. cracked.com has helpful hints and strategies on how to choose the right font for your work

Analysis of Crap

In our class on wednesday were assigned a picture. flyer, billlboard, or webpage to analyze. Above is my assigned photo. To fully analyze a photo, we used an acronym (CRAP) to determine the overall creativity or design of the picture.
CONSISTENCY- The pictue is very in depth with detail but doesn't have too much detail to understand
REPITITION- The Left and Right pictures are the same but just at different times, the font of the text in the middle is the same also, along with the block outline
ALIGNMENT- the two pictures have alignment all over the place, the roads, the buildings, the line in the middle of the photo, the sidewalks, etc. Most everything was middle alligned.
PROXIMITY- Although the pictures are directly beside each other, there isn't anything that takes away from the overall depiction of the picture and how it is advertising a cancer support site.

Another part of out assignment was to find our own photo and analyze it just the same.
Here is a link to the web page I decided to analyze. This is a rock concert virtual flyer for Carolina Rebellion, which is a concert that comes once a year to Charlotte.
CONSISTENCY- The page is very clean, with neat borders, links, and different ads inside the page.
REPITITION- The font of the band names are the same, some of the text boxes are similiar, but not much repitition in the entirety of  the page.
ALIGNMENT- The Alignment of the page makes it so much easier to read, understand, and notice all the details, the borders on the sides and the border at the bottom makes the page look clean and organized.
PROXIMITY- The photos and information about ticket info , dates, and venue are well displayed as well as their sponsors.

Futuristic Dreams

Growing up as a kid, I often wondered what life would be like when I "grew up". I imagined hover cars, robots, laser guns, and all sorts of things that a kid found awesome. In today's world, there aren't  literal hover cars or laser guns, but great advancements and inventions have came very close to those things in my imagination. Cars today can run on electricity as well as corn syrup; even the cars that run on gas have new features to help save the environment. Even though not many people have actual walking and talking robots, we all have seen or heard of our own personal assistants such as Siri, voice control on our phones, GPS's for our vehicles and even our computers can be a huge help. And even in the future I am positive that these things will advance even greater. As a child I would never have guessed that 3-D TVs would be easily available, our voices could control our phones, and even that there are drinks that will give you energy and strength.I really don't have much experience with blogging or anything that would be considered social networking besides Facebook and Twitter. I look forward to learning how to better myself to using electronics and the internet through blogging and other activities such as this!
